Seven Months

OK, so technically it's not for four more days, but I might not have a chance to make that post at that time.

Fun With WrigglingTomorrow is Thanksgiving, and Dad says it's his favorite holiday. So he and Mom are taking me to see our family in New Mexico. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there that I love again, and meeting everyone else. Mom said something about turkey too, but I'm probably too little to eat that yet. I'll just have to stick to sweet potatoes and zucchini, probably. No pumpkin pie, though -- too spicy for a little girl like me.

Please, Sir, May I Have Some More? This week I did try applesauce, actually. It was pretty good -- the first bite is always kind of tart, because Dad bought some off the shelf that has vitamin C added. But after I get past that part, I like it. When we get back, Dad says he's going to make me some, and we're also going to try green beans. He's going to be cooking all day next time he makes me more food, because all I have left in the freezer is about three tablespoons of sweet potatoes and a bunch of zucchini. I've also had some bananas since my last entry, and those rule.

What else is going on? Just me trying to crawl, really. Tubby Time is Relaxing I've figured out how to scoot backward, and even though I can't really steer it yet I can get myself into some pretty fun positions -- closer to the dogs or the camera or the newspaper, which Dad says I'm not supposed to have anymore. Yesterday I also managed to scoot my knees forward a little bit while I was rocking, but it's going to be a bit longer before I figure it all out. Dad just finished baby-proofing the kitchen cabinets and the outlets, and when we get back he says he's going to secure the media shelves so I can't tip them over. (He's not so worried about me pulling out CD cases or video tapes.)

I better get to bed -- we have an early flight tomorrow. I'll try to upload some pictures while we're at home. (Well, Mom and Dad call it home. I have to get there first before I can technically say that.)

Feed Me

This week was a lot better than last week was.Scooter I think I can safely say that it was because Mom finally had a weekend off. She spent a lot of time in the study on the computer -- Dad says she has a big test coming up that'll decide if she can actually be a doctor -- but we still got to play and snuggle and sing and read stories. It sure was a lot more fun than sitting around waiting for her to get home and then having to climb in bed with her when she does. I miss Mom when she's at work all the time. Dad's great and all, but there's something Mom has that he doesn't. Well, lactating breasts, sure, but that's not all Mom is to me.

Oatmeal went well -- I think I like it better than rice cereal. Zucchini is Gross, Dad I've also had some peas this weekend, and that was probably the easiest food they've introduced to me so far. I'm not totally sure about the texture yet, because it might be green like zucchini but it sure isn't as smooth. Dad feels pretty comfortable that I've had enough of an introduction to vegetables that we can start to try some fruits this week and I won't just flat-out scorn the squash next time they bust it out. We'll do bananas first, and then either apples or pears or maybe plums, depending on what they have at the store in the organic section.

Feel the BurnI tell you guys what, too, this crawling madness is right around the corner. This week I started to roll across the floor, and I'm getting up on all fours and rocking, just getting a feel for it until I can get a move on. Maybe I'll play a practical joke on Dad and start crawling before he has the place baby-proofed. He thought he was gonna be so good and have it done before I was even born. Ha ha! But he says we're going to Target this week to get latches and braces and stuff. At least he's thinking about it.

Oh yeah, I never posted a picture of my Halloween costume.

Spicy

It was really hot in there, though. (No pun intended.) We didn't go trick-or-treating, just answered the door and gave the neighborhood kids candy. (Since I can't eat candy yet, it doesn't make sense to go. Mom and Dad would just be mooching off the neighbors then.)

It's not long before I get to see some family again! I can't wait. Albuquerque and Santa Fe peoples, call my mom or my dad to set something up if you haven't already, because I'd like to meet everyone.

Ugh

It's been a long crazy week, gang. I hardly feel like updating. What with the computer dying, my doctor's appointment where I had three more shots, Mom not getting the weekend off like she was supposed to, and my auntie getting sick, there's not a lot of excitement.

The vitals:
Height: 27 inches (90th percentile)
Weight: 18 pounds, 5 ounces (90th percentile)
Dr. B. was also pleased with my progress in the other areas -- transferring toys from hand to hand, pulling myself up when someone holds my hands, sitting by myself, that kind of thing. She has a thing for round baby heads, so the fact that mine isn't flat wins points. But then she didn't believe that I wasn't having any formula because I was so big. It's the truth -- this is all boob, with a little solid stuff in the last couple weeks.

Dad's making the new food. I wasn't too sure about the squash:

It's not so bad now. Plus they often mix it with sweet potatoes, which I love. This week: zucchini (pretty good) and oatmeal (we'll start it on Wednesday).

You can check out the new pictures by clicking over there on the left. There are lots; it goes to the second page, so don't give up early.
