Summertime

And the living is easy, or at least that's what the song says. One Step Closer to the Plush Chair in the Corner Office But I'm not saying we've had a hard time of it. Life is pretty good around here.

I'm getting stronger and stronger every day. Lying down is for babies; I'm all about sitting up assisted these days. Superbaby is still fun, but a lot of the time I'm content to chill on someone's knee and just look around. I still haven't quite remembered how to roll over from my belly yet, but any day now I'm going to get that coordinated. Until then, though, I'm enjoying my tummy time again -- since I can look up and around, it's not so frustrating as when my face was pressed down in the blanket.

This weekend was a busy one for us. Friday night we went out for dinner. I'd already eaten, so I mostly watched while Mom, Dad and Auntie Coop demolished a table full of food at the Olive Garden. We were going to go to the Harry Potter book release party afterward, but Mom fell asleep, so I stayed home with her while Dad and Auntie Coop stood in line. Dad finished it last night, and he says it's good but that I have to wait until we read the other four books that come before it.

Bikini BabeOn Saturday we went to a pool party. Well, it was supposed to be a pool party -- we got rained out. I had my swimsuit on and everything, but it was just too dangerous to go in the water with the thunder and lightning. Too bad. But we did learn that a swim diaper is really only rated to contain solid waste when I leaked all over Mom's beach skirt.

In the evening we had a cocktail party to celebrate Dad's 30th birthday (which is tomorrow). He's so old! He's got one foot in the grave. But I guess I shouldn't tease anybody about age, since I turn three months old on Wednesday. I'm going for a photo session today and can't decide between two pretty dresses. We'll just take some pictures in both and see which looks better.

Also, this week my grandpa, grandma and aunties are coming from Canada. I know, I have a lot of aunties, but Auntie LK and Auntie Georgie are actually Mom's sisters. I'm so excited to see them and play with them. Mom's doing a week-long conference that means she only has to work half-days, so we can all play in the afternoons.

I guess that's all for this time. See you next week!

Oh Yeah, My Blog

It's been a while. Sorry, everyone. My grandpa got mad at us for not posting, but the last couple weeks have been hectic for Dad.

Patriotic PuckerLast Tuesday we went for a walk, and when we got back the carpet was wet. We all figured one of the puppies had not made it to the backyard and had an accident -- until it didn't dry. In fact, it just kept getting wetter and wetter, no matter how many towels Dad used on it. Turns out there was a leak in the water line in the garage, so a plumber came and fixed it -- which lasted over the weekend. The very next Tuesday, another leak sprung farther down the line, under the slab. So Thursday two more plumbers came and re-did all the pipes in the house. Dad and I were very thankful that Auntie Coop is still here, because it made it easier for him to deal with them and get our water working again.

Dad was also the best man at his best friend's wedding in Las Vegas over the weekend. Mom and I were jealous that we didn't get to go, but I'm too little to ride on a plane yet anyway and Mom couldn't get the time off work. So we went to see Transformers instead. I did OK, except for one moment Best Smile Everwhere my diaper couldn't contain what I wanted to put in it, but Mom didn't miss too much of the movie.

So Dad's had a lot of stress, but I like to think I make him feel better. I'm learning a lot these days. I smile more and more, and any day now I'm going to bust out with the belly laugh. When Mom or Dad carries me around on their chests, I pull my head away by myself so I can look around. I like to watch the dogs play while I'm doing my floor exercises. We didn't get to go to fireworks on the Fourth (too rainy), but there's been a lot of thunder and although it gets my attention, I'm not scared of it.

Right now my favorite game is "Superbaby." Dad lifts me up a little bit over his head, and I stretch my legs out behind me. It's so fun! I can't help but smile down at him (it's the first time I've been taller than Dad) and even giggle a little bit sometimes. I also like it when he holds me under my chest and belly and flies me around the house -- sometimes that's the only thing that'll hold me over until the next bottle is warm.

That's all for this time. The next time I update, my dad will probably be 30. I can't imagine ever being that old.

Miss Independent

Tomorrow is a holiday, Mom and Dad say. That's good, because I could use one.

Monday was a killer. Dad kept trying to put me down to sleep, and I was. Not. INTERESTED. I like to be up and where the action is,So, You Come Here Often? but that guy didn't get it. Eventually he had to leave, and Mom tried putting me down, but that's no fun because when you're asleep you miss everything. Finally, Dad sang to me for about an hour at 11:30, which is all I wanted.

Then today I had my two-month checkup with Dr. B. I measured in at 23 1/2 inches and an apparently whopping 13 pounds, 1 ounce. She's not concerned, though, still -- I'm in the 90th percentile for weight and about the 80th for height, but I guess my folks don't have to worry about it until she's worried about it. It went pretty well right up until the tech came in to give me my vaccinations. That was the part that Mom was worried about, and let me tell you, I did not like it. When that short one went in, I screamed bloody murder. Mom and Dad did OK until the tech left the room, but Dad was a little shaken hearing me scream like that, and Mom was fighting back tears. By then, though, I was all done being upset -- the shots were over, so no worries, right? I am still a little sore, but I got cool Looney Tunes bandages at least.

Otherwise, life is progressing pretty nicely in our house.Oh Crap, I Didn't Study Dad's adapting to me and the house being his job, though there's still a lot that doesn't get done yet. He's working on it -- of course I'm his number one priority, and the cleaning and stuff can come after. Mom just started an easier rotation at work, which means I get to see her three more hours a night. That rules, of course, and it gives us a chance to build up a milk supply for next month when she goes back to the hard one. (Hey, why eat leftovers when you could go to the restaurant?)

Auntie Coop is still here, for another month. She and her puppy help out where they can -- she gets to play with me a lot while Dad makes food and does my laundry, and Kael keeps our dogs occupied so they aren't bored when Dad can't play with them.

All four of us went to a baseball game on Friday.Rabid Wolf Dad's trying to help me learn the game, since he and Mom are both fans. Our team here is the Brevard County Manatees, but as we're really Albuquerqueans (even though I've never been there) we have a lot of Isotopes gear. I think I might have to be a Tampa Bay Devil Rays fan, though, being born in Central Florida and all. It'll affect Mom (Blue Jays) more than Dad (Tigers), but not much because the Rays almost always finish last so no harm done. And since the Manatees never win either, I'll be prepared for that.

Tomorrow we're supposed to go to a concert and a fireworks show. I hope I can stay up for it, and that it doesn't scare me too much. After all, this is the first big holiday of my life, and I want to celebrate it.
