Kill Yourself On Your Own Time

As I'm walking from my car to the office this morning, I spy two construction workers leaning against their truck, taking a break from improving our building. With particulate masks askew on their foreheads, each enjoys the soothing feeling of a post-work cigarette.

There's some irony here if I weren't too lazy to look for it.

That's like something I saw on t.v. a few months ago. Apparently the kids have gotten the messages: don't drink and drive! Smoking will kill you! Ok, let's go get some E!

I found the same irony last week. We were walking from lunch back to the building we were installing the computer cluster in, and one of my coworkers started breathing sorta heavy. It's not a hard walk, that's for sure, but I can understand getting winded after almost a mile. So we get to the front of the building and he's breathing heavily, when he busts out the cigarettes. I chuckled and made fun of him. He told me to shut the hell up.

Some guy at work this morning made a comment about "...the smoking doesn't help" and proceeded straight out the door and lit up another one.

I have a co-worker with emphysema ... you think that, and his 15 year old daughter, would be enough to stop him from smoking.
